Preparing to recover from a loss:

In the event that you do incur a loss, some advance preparation will be greatly beneficial to both you and your adjustor and will make the settlement of your claim easier and quicker. Consider:

• Taking pictures or videotaping your building and operations. It is much easier to show the adjuster what you had than try to explain it. Keep these photos or videos in a safe location away from the premises.
• Back up your client information and store off premises.
• Maintain a list of suppliers for your equipment and inventory off premises.
• Develop contingency and disaster plans to continue operations.
